The program is designed to serve hard-to-reach individuals who are chronically unhoused and often have disabling mental health and substance use conditions. Upon arriving at a sober-living house from rehab or detox, a woman can expect a safe and supportive environment that promotes long-term sobriety. The house managers will assist in helping her settle in and become familiar with the house rules and daily routine. She will receive help and support from those knowledgeable about addiction and recovery.
Recovery Housing Program (RHP)
Entry requirements vary, but most sober living homes in Massachusetts require residents to have completed some level of rehab or detox before admission. NARR’s mission is to improve access to quality recovery residences through these standards, education, and advocacy. Recovery houses are transitory substance-free, peer-supported, stable, and safe living environments for persons in recovery from substance abuse. Most recovery residences center on community support to sustain sobriety. Recovery houses do not provide medical or clinical services to their residents. Residents support themselves by using the skills and knowledge learned during inpatient rehab treatment, counseling, and therapy to direct, encourage, and help one another to prevent relapse. Recovery houses reinforce a substance-free lifestyle by providing mutual help through peers in recovery, support groups, and recovery support services, including medical treatment for substance abuse.
MASH Certified Sober Homes
Establishing a strong sober home community culture is critical to success in recovery. MASH-certified sober homes must also offer a peer-based environment and be drug- and alcohol-free. The Sunrise Fund is a Massachusetts-based nonprofit drug addiction organization dedicated to helping individuals in their journey toward sustained addiction recovery.
